"Former Chaminade athletic director Vasconcellos dies"...various articles note that tiny little Chaminade University of Honolulu got worldwide recognition from beating powerhouse Virginia in basketball in 1982 in the Maui Invitational
(Virginia was #1 at the time) ...I believe that this was how I heard of Chaminade...and a few years later after my freshman year of college at Calvin I applied to Chaminade and was accepted and went there for a semester (1985-86)...it was one of the BEST experiences of my life..in fact the reason I left was because I knew I had to fulfill my "mission" in life to the world before returning to paradise (Hawaii) (some day) (ie I was having too much of a good time..not just in terms of partying and things of that sort (there was some of that but it was not the end all and be all of the experience) ..but simply almost a nirvana experience..unreal..people so friendly..happy all the time..I can't explain it..but because it was SO GOOD ...so much AGAPE LOVE ...that i forced myself to leave for the time being because that was a "mission fulfilled" (I hope my rooommate Ron Foo is okay...hope to hear from him some day..lots of agape love for him in my heart and soul). ..but it's forever in my heart and soul and maybe I will end up retiring there..God bless Chaminade !
